*Fanfiction* Torchwood ~Broken~ CHAPTER ONE
Chapter One
Gone
Ianto zipped up his coat, trying to keep out the bitter winter air. His red scarf and bobble hat covered most of his face, leaving a pair of bright blue eyes staring out between the crimson wool. The night was quite and Ianto's footsteps echoed in the darkness. He didn't know where he was going, he just wanted to get away, away from Torchwood, away from blood and sweat, away from tears and pain, away from aliens and monsters, and most of all, away from Jack. He walked and walked until he reached the river, at which he stopped and leant over the railings. How peaceful it would be to be in the ever flowing water, he could escape from everything and be truely alone. Alone, he thought, what a beautiful word. You could be alone with Jack. Ianto closed his eyes, trying to block out his thoughts. He loves you. He opened his eyes and a tear rolled down his cheek. he knew he missed Jack but he didn't want to believe it. Why would you leave him all alone, with no one to love him? "BECAUSE HE LEFT ME!" Ianto shouted in to the night, falling in to the iron railings that stopped him falling in to the icey water below. More tears began to stream down his face as he grasped on to the metal bars, collapsing to the ground, distraught and heartbroken. He didn't care if anyone saw him, he didn't care if he was being watched out of windows or through cameras. 'Ianto Jones - The soulless wreck'. Ianto was still crumpled on the pavement, sobbing, when he heard footsteps approaching. He didn't look up. A woman, dressed completly in black was running towards him, her hair in a mess, hands in pockets away from the cold. As she neared him, Ianto began to shake, the cold finally getting to him.
"Ianto?" The familier welsh voice of Gwen Cooper came from the darkness. "Ianto?" He slowly raised his head, his eyes red and puffy from crying.
Ianto sniffed. "Gwen?" She crouched beside him and placed a hand on his cheek, wiping away a few stray tears.
"Ianto. Oh thank god!"
"I-I-u-u-um,I'm s-s-s-sorry." Ianto fell in to Gwen, who held him while he burst in to tears once more.
"Shhhh, your okay, your fine." She whispered.
"It's, it's my f-f-fault." Ianto stuttered in between sobs. "It's m-m-my f-fault he left. He's not coming b-b-back. He's not..." And he pounded the floor with his fist "IT'S ALL MY FAULT!". Gwen looked worried.
"It's not your fault, it's not. He left because he had to, not because of you." She pulled Ianto closer in an attempt to comfort him, but instead he pulled away. He stood up and began to back away.
"No." Ianto swayed a little, trying hard to regain his confidence."No!" Gwen tried to approach him but the distraught man just move away.
"Ianto, don't do this. He'll come back, I know it. He will!" She closed her eyes trying to think of a way to help reassure him. Ianto moved again, but Gwen lunged forwards and caught hold of his wrist but he managed to push her hand away. "Look, we are going to find him. Come back to Torchwood. Tosh can search for sightings and me and Owen will ask around, see if anyone's seen him. It'll be alright." She smiled sympathetically.
Ianto shook his head.
"I need some time. I need some time..." He rubbed his fingers over the bridge of his nose, taking a few steps back. "I'll see you tomorrow Gwen." He turned and walked off, going nowhere in particular. Gwen halfheartedly began to run after him, but gave up and pulled her flip phone out of her jacket.
"Owen?... No, he's gone... Yeah he's heartbroken.... No, no he'll come back... Ianto will, I don't know about Jack... Yeah... No I let him go, he needs to be alone... No, I need to see rhys see you tomorrow...I will...Bye....Goodbye Owen....Bye.". She looked around the town, taking in the scene before walking back to her home. Rhys would be waiting and Gwen didn't want to leave him alone for another night, she needed his advice. She needed to find Jack.
